The 'Thermoform' series captures the essence of resilience through its unique use of acrylic polymers (PMMA). Each piece is different in its own way - handmade by shaping PMMA sheets under high temperature. The polymer is rigid and not very giving at first, much like our innate tendency to resist change. After gradual heat exposure, it becomes malleable and provides a short timeframe to be sculpted with virtually no resistance. It would then need some structural support as it cools down into its new form - where it will resist subsequent change once again. This transformation resembles how we adapt & persevere through our respective challenges. Despite being subjected to pressure and high temperature, the polymer remains intact and transforms into a unique, beautiful product; one that is much more exciting and sophisticated than its initial form. The artwork in this collection is symbolic of the beauty that comes from being agile, and the strength that comes from being resilient. They serve as a reminder of our own ability to bend, but not break, and to find inspiration in unexpected circumstances.
